Umesh Poudel is Grain Quality and Receivals Technician with AEGIC, providing technical support for AEGIC’s customer facing activities such as wheat quality seminars, baking/noodle workshops, and delegations.
A big part of Umesh’s role is to assist with AEGIC’s incoming delegations of international customers by providing technical support and solutions for demonstrating the advantages of Australian wheat.
Umesh has been with AEGIC since March 2024 and operates out of AEGIC’s technical facilities in Perth. He manages the receival of grains, conducts inspections of grain physical quality, test weight and hectolitre weight, and prepares grain for milling into flour for quality testing.
Umesh enjoys the versatility of his role, and the ongoing development and learning opportunities on offer. He enjoys contributing to AEGIC’s success by managing grain receivals and processing to support AEGIC’s activities in key grain markets. Overseeing the whole process, from physical grain quality, to milling, to flour quality testing, is something that Umesh takes a lot of satisfaction and pride in.
For Umesh, increasing value in the Australian grains industry is about Australia’s grain customers having greater understanding of the benefits to them of using Australian wheat. Umesh is proud to be part of a sustainable industry that enhances economic returns and strengthens the global reputation of Australian grain.
Seeing the impact that AEGIC has on international customers and the Australian industry is very satisfying for Umesh. He finds it very fulfilling to be part of a team that links science with real-world industry impact.
Originally from Nepal, Umesh gained valuable experience as Barley Technical Officer with breeding company InterGrain, and has also worked with Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).
We are glad to have Umesh as a member of our Training and Education team. Thank you Umesh for all your valuable contributions to AEGIC.
