AEGIC is integrating with Grains Australia to better support Australia’s grains customers and the Australian grains industry.

China’s swine industry is the focus of a Grains Australia project to build relationships within China and stimulate demand for Australian feed grains.

The project involves engaging with key Chinese feed mills and industry organisations to strengthen relationships, reduce information gaps, and identify mutually beneficial opportunities.

During November 2025, AEGIC Senior Markets Manager Justin Swan visited key Chinese feed grain associations and feed mills to build technical rapport and trust between the industries.

China requires a stable supply of high-quality feed grains, and there are opportunities to stimulate more demand for Australian grains such as barley, sorghum, canola meal and wheat.

The scale of China’s livestock industry is impressive. The estimated to feed China’s swine herd of over 430 million is approximately 150 mmt.*

The initial trip was a success, and most customers are seeking more engagement with the Australian industry. Further visits are planned for 2026 to strengthen the connections between the two industries and communicate the benefits of Australian feed grains.

The project is currently being delivered by AEGIC and will continue under Grains Australia when the two organisations integrate in 2026.

Grains Australia is an initiative of the Grains Research and Development Corporation.
