Integration of Grains Australia and AEGIC

AEGIC is integrating with Grains Australia to better support Australia’s grains customers and the Australian grains industry.

The AEGIC website will remain accessible in the short term; however, it will not be updated from 1 January 2026. As a result, some information on this site may be out of date.

We’re working towards a single, combined website in the near future.

This project seeks to demonstrate the consistency, repeatability, relativity and robustness of the MultiMalter malting performance data, as well as continue a range of testing for MultiMalter data in barley breeding programs and initial developments of data sets for sustainable malt barley.

This project is a continuation of our MultiMalter pilot project, which was supported by GRDC.

Completed (July-September 2025)

  • We tested new barley samples for optimal malting performance including new barley varieties and accredited varieties from different seasons.
  • Results were entered in our malt quality database.

Scheduled (October-December 2025)

  • We will develop an initial report on trends identified using our malt quality database.
  • We will continue to test new barley samples for optimal malting performance and enter results in our malt quality database.
  • We will plan and develop further work to realise the MultiMalter’s commercial and technical potential in adding value to the Australian malting barley supply chain.
