AGIC Asia 2021 to reach Asian feed and whole grain buyers

26 February, 2021

The Australian Grain Industry Conference 2021 will feature a special session led by AEGIC on the benefits of Australian grains for animal feed, and the health benefits of whole grains for human consumption.

AGIC Asia, which will be held virtually this year on Wednesday 3 March 2021, is a key date on the grain industry calendar – a popular event that showcases the value of Australian grain directly to Asian processors, marketers and consumers from across the region.

AGIC Asia is convened by Grain Trade Australia, in partnership with HFW and AEGIC, and is supported by CBH Group, GrainCorp and Viterra.

This year’s virtual event will feature a range of high-quality speakers, including AEGIC consultant Tony Edwards, who will explain the advantages of using barley in monogastric feed rations, with a focus on the markets of Indonesia and Vietnam.

Mr Edwards is an experienced animal feed nutrition expert. He will provide feed grain buyers with practical, technical information about how to maximise the value of Australian grain for feed.

The AEGIC session will also highlight the health benefits of Australian whole grain food products with a presentation from Dr Sara Grafenauer, Grains and Legume Nutrition Council General Manager.

AEGIC CEO Richard Simonaitis will then steer a panel discussion on maximising the value of Australian grain.

Mr Simonaitis says AGIC Asia is one of the many ways AEGIC connects with Asian grain buyers and is a highlight on the annual calendar of market engagement.

“For several years we’ve been engaging with feed grain buyers across Asia to help them understand the benefits of using Australian grains for animal feed,” he said. “We’ve been gaining traction here with grain flows strengthening into these markets.

“We’ve also been working with millers and food manufacturers about the many benefits of using Australian whole grain wheat.

“AGIC Asia is a fantastic opportunity to get all these buyers to one event and stimulate demand for Australian grain across a range of markets.”

Speakers at the 2021 event will include:

  • Andrew Goyder – GTA Chair
  • Pat O’Shannassy – GTA CEO
  • The Hon Dan Tehan MP – Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment
  • Gerard McMullen – Principal, McMullen Consulting
