AEGIC Chief Executive Officer appointed

Richard SimonaitisThe Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre has announced the appointment of Richard Simonaitis to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

AEGIC Chairman Terry Enright said Mr Simonaitis brought with him a wealth of Australian grains industry experience.

“Richard has a significant track record in senior management roles across grains logistics, operations, marketing and trading,” Mr Enright said.

“He led the Accumulations Team at CBH Group for five years and has a deep understanding of the Australian grains industry, Australia’s international grain markets, and the issues and needs of Australian grain growers.

“The AEGIC Board is very confident Richard is an ideal choice to help continue to cement AEGIC’s important place in the Australian grains industry and take the company to the next level.”

Mr Simonaitis said he looked forward to working closely with AEGIC’s members and stakeholders towards achieving AEGIC’s vision of enhancing the value and competitiveness of Australian grain.

Mr Simonaitis will commence his role with AEGIC in late February.

Richard Simonaitis has broad experience in export-focused commodities industries, having worked in logistics and product quality roles in the iron ore industry and in senior management roles in the grain industry across logistics, operations and marketing and trading.

He has a track record of leading teams and effecting change by fostering an effective and high performing culture.

With the CBH Group, Richard led the national Accumulations Team for five years.He has a strong understanding of grain growers, the grains industry across Australia and of the markets Australian grain is sold into. Richard also has international experience developing a number of grain infrastructure projects in Indonesia.

Richard is the current Chairperson of the Country High Schools Hostels Authority, an inaugural board member of the Australian Grains Institute capacity building project, a fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is undertaking a Masters in Business Administration with the University of Western Australia.
